8 | Elton John - Mega-rare restored LP "Live (CBM)", Scope Norfolk, VA 1972-11-13 and Hwd Bowl 1973-09-07 AUD - Speed corrected and rejoined (mp3 sample included) great show
This album has never sounded better, and for once you can actually hear it properly. From a mint, fairly well-pressed copy (well, as well-pressed as CBM ever was, which is terrible) this album has been shaken, stirred and EQed to squeeze as much sound out as possible. For those of you unfamiliar with this particular performance, Elton's guitarist Davey Johnstone was laid up in a New York hospital with a bad tooth abcess and the band is now playing as a trio. This performance is stellar! There's also an additional track thrown in from the Hollywood Bowl from the following year.
A very small amount of noise reduction was used in order to quiet the snowstorm apparent between tracks. A very complex EQ was used in order to clarify the performance. Fades were applied wherever deemed necessary. This album ran way too fast. It's now been pitched properly. Grab it!
Lineage: CBM LP -> Audacity ->Sound Forge 11.0 ->Glitch removal ->Click and crackle removal ->Independent normalization of channels ->"Dead space" noise reduction ->Apply fades, remove silence between tracks ->Complex EQ ->FLAC via TLH, level 6, sectors aligned and verified

This concert was first released on YouTube by Sergio Pigo on November 10, 2022. Many people from Elton John's community requested a lossless file, and the taper kindly agreed and shared his tape in lossless format.
This tape contains one of the earliest performances recorded in 1973 during Elton John's 'Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player' tour. Elton John performed in Italy for the first time, as they couldn't play there the previous year (1972) due to cancellations. During this era, 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' was in its very early creative stages.
The tape itself is most likely taken from a Master tape (Still unknown if it is). The taper insists that he recorded it on a "musicassette by a little portable recorder" in his own words.
One fascinating aspect of the concert was the evolution of the song 'Love Lies Bleeding.' Originally intended as a separate composition from 'Funeral For a Friend,' it was later fused musically, resulting in the powerful combination we know today. The lyrics underwent significant changes during this period, with lines such as 'Everything about this house, have to live and die,' 'Oh, it was only about a year ago to this very day,' and 'Well, it kills me to think of you with another man.' The song 'Candle In The Wind' also evolved during this time.
One fan, Anna, shared her memories of the show, recalling the magical moment when Elton John emerged from the 'lion's den' - the ladder from which the performers ascended onto the stage. Clad in a multicolored cape that cascaded down to his feet and adorned with a magnificent basket of flowers in the shape of an inverted cone on his head, Elton John epitomized the flamboyance and theatricality for which he became renowned. Anna also marveled at his ever-changing glasses, which she described as incredible and colorful, mirroring the vibrant personality that shone through his music and fashion choices.
This concert is very special because it is the only recorded concert from the entire tour before the 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' tour!
Happy 51th anniversary of this show!

Notes: This was a free show at the 1982 VP Fair, under the Arch, in St. Louis, MO. I received a copy of this from a
friend of the taper shortly after the show took place. The entire concert was recorded, but unfortunately, this is all
that the taper would release.
There were fades between some of the songs. Apparently, the taper only wanted to release certain songs. I took the
liberty of fading the songs together (adding additional applause where necessary) to give the listener the impression
of a contiguous recording. No EQ, compression, etc was performed on the recording. |

8 | Notes (April 2025):
-no previous record of this recording on dime or TTD
-based on how the files were originally named I think I downloaded these files in 2022 through a link provided
by a trader on guitars101 to their collection of Elton John recordings (I forget who this person was)
-the trader probably did not record this
-I recall that many of the recordings in the link provided by this trader had lossy lineage and/or were
remastered by them, but these files are definitely lossless and I don't think this is remastered
-the files were originally organized in two CD folders, named as "EJ0", "EJ1", etc. with the indexing starting
from 0 and were without an info sheet or checksum
-to satisfy dime's rules for file name indexing, I renamed the files as 01,02, etc., then put them in a single
folder and made a ffp checksum
-upon trying to reverify the checksum I created, I got errors of "failed verification (checksum in file header
matches, but checksum of audio data does not match)."
-according to this TTD thread (http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=134069), the issue is
basically that the flac files from the trader didn't have a standard flac file header due to the program they
used (perhaps to encode the WAV files from a CDR rip to FLAC?) but the audio itself was fine
-my solution was to convert the files to WAV and then back to FLAC with TLH, and now the ffp checksum I
create actually works |

Anfiteatro Romano - Pompei,
Italy |
A | If there was no comment by the Italian djs this would be rated much higher
a Live and Direct FM radio broadcast by "Radio2Live", Radio2 RAI [second channel of italian national radio] from Anfiteatro Romano in Pompei, Italy, on monday 12 July 2016, 21:02 hours [CET]
and that's the same settings where Pink Floyd shot "live at pompei"
The usual band include Davey Johnstone (Musical Director, Guitars, Mandolin, Banjo, Vocals), Kim Bullard (Keyboards), Matt Bissonette (Bass and Vocals), John Mahon (Percussion and Drums, Vocals), Nigel Olsson (Drums and Vocals)
WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His/Her purpose is to introduce songs with bits of bio and translate what the artists say, or to describe to radio listeners what's happening on stage. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. It has to be noted that italian djs are on the whole adviced to talk that much by the same record companies to prevent bootlegging.
there is a small signal droput along the set

Here is Elton'92s first of two nights at the Philly stop of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Both shows were sold out and in fact a large banner displayed that Elton has sold out the last 39 times he has played in Philly! It has been a few years since I have seen him and he is truly one of the most talented musicians of our time (in my humble opinion!).
Nothing like Philadelphia Freedom in Philly!!
** Please note- Unfortunately this upload is missing the two encores (Your Song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road)'85my brother drove and wanted to leave early to beat the crowd'85. :( Hopefully someone will upload the whole show or feel free to add the encores to this if you are able.

Beyond that, I hope you Enjoy!
So not my usual kind of gig but I saw some day of show side stage seats at a good price, plus I knew the wife would love it. All in all this was a truly great show. All the hits, smoking band and tons of great piano playing. This is Elton's big Farewell Tour and this was his last headline performance ever at Madison Square Garden (Unless he changes his touring plans.) and he made it clear how much he loves to play in NYC and MSG particularly.

This concert was Elton's second-to-last gig on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road-tour. ...and therefore also his (perhaps) second-to-last concert ever. The show was originally scheduled for 18 september 2020. Due to both the Covid 19 pandemic and Elton's health issues the show was postponed not only once, but three times.
My seat in section A103 meant that the conditions for recording the concert were far from perfect and the sound is somewhat reverberated. Tele2 Arena is large arena and my seat was on the almost directly opposite short side from the stage.

8 | This is the CD compatible 16/44 version.
Source (presumed): Audience recording > Audio Technica SP-CMC-4U Cardioid Stereo Microphones > Sony PCM-A10 Digital Recorder (24/48) > usb > WAV (untracked)
I received the concert as an untracked WAV file (24/48) so I tracked everything with CD Wave, downsampled the tracks to 16/44 with Adobe Audition 1.5 & converted everything to FLAC (level 6) with TLH.
